We collect the smallest amount of information we can while still running a working website and small online business. Specifically:
We use the information we collect to: respond to your messages; fulfill and ship your orders; send the newsletter if you've subscribed; understand which pages and books visitors find useful; and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever.
Contact-form messages are kept for two years and then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe (every email has a one-click unsubscribe link). Order records are kept for seven years to meet US tax requirements. Server logs are rotated after 30 days.
We share information only with the small set of service providers we need to run the business: our website host, our email-newsletter provider, our payment processor (for orders), and our shipping carrier. Each of these providers is bound by contract to use your information only for the service they provide to us.
You have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, email client@bob-books.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in California, the EU, or the UK, you have additional rights under CCPA / GDPR / UK GDPR and we will honor them.
Although we publish books for children, this website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
We use HTTPS everywhere, keep our software up to date, and limit access to personal information to the people who need it. No website can guarantee perfect security, but we treat your information the way we would want our own treated.
If we update this policy, we will change the "last updated" date at the top and, for substantive changes, post a notice on the website. The current version always lives at this URL.
